The WTO Secretariat report, along with the policy statement by the Government of the Czech Republic, will serve as a basis for the second trade policy review of the Czech Republic by the Trade Policy Review Body of the WTO on 17 and 19 October 2001. The European Union's single market programme and liberalization under the WTO have generally improved access conditions for the EU's trading partners and increased exposure of the EU economy to international competition and structural change, says a new WTO Secretariat report. Vivienne Kendall reports on a recent, massive undertaking by the World Trade Organization — a review of the EU’s trade policy. A two-day hearing in Geneva in July on the World Trade Organization (WTO) review of EU trade policy attracted well over a thousand questions from WTO members, and statements from more than 40 delegations.
