The current Nordplus programme took effect in 2012 and lasts until 2016. The Nordplus-Idrott Network (NIN) is aimed at institutions with postgraduate degree programs in sport and physical education in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. At present, there are 23 active members in the network. Nordplus aims to strengthen and develop cooperation within the Nordic education and help create a common Nordic and Baltic educational arena.

The Network aims at developing the quality of teacher education through teacher and student exchange, which gives a chance to meet another culture, language, educational system and to get more in-depth knowledge of the nearby regions, as well as by preparing intensive courses which would lead to broader discussions and developments in the issues of Kunskapsföretag med fokus på utvecklings- och utbildningsinsatser inom hela samhället, såväl offentlig som privat sektor. Nordplus er Nordisk Ministerråds mobilitets- og netværksprogram for uddannelsesområdet. Programmerne har et årligt budget på ca. 68 millioner kroner. Styrelsen for Forskning og Uddannelse er ansvarlig for information og vejledning af ansøgere i Danmark.
